Many of our Chicago apartment communities are located near Chicago’s lakefront. One of the many benefits to their location is the easy access to Chicago’s Lakefront trail. The trail is popular with people of all ages and athletic ability. From sunrise to sundown you will find people running, walking and biking on the trail.
Below are five things you may not have known about the Chicago Lakefront Trail.
The trail is located entirely in Chicago. It runs from Ardmore Street/5800 N. Sheridan Road on the North Side to 71st Street/7100 S. South Shore Drive on the South Side.
The lakefront trail is 18.5 miles long.
There are many attractions along the lakefront trail, including the Lincoln Park Zoo, Soldier Field, South Shore Cultural Center and Navy Pier.
If you walk, bike or run the trail from one end to the other you will pass through Lincoln Park, Grant Park, Burnham Park and Jackson Park.
If you regularly enjoy Chicago’s Lakefront Trail, it’s helpful to stay on top of construction and other happenings on the trail. The Twitter profile @activetransLFT posts regular updates about conditions and detours.
