Summer is finally upon us. Outdoor dining is one of many great things about summer in Chicago. You can find many excellent outdoor dining spots throughout the city, but Lakeview has some of the best. Whether you’re looking for a fantastic Italian meal or just want to enjoy a couple of drinks with friends, you’ll find great places in Lakeview.
Below are some of our favorite spots for outdoor dining in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.
Winner of the Michelin Bib Gourmand Award for the past five years, Wood is a great spot for exceptional food and drink. Chef Ashlee Aubin has spent time at Alinea, Home Bistrot and Zealous. The dinner menu includes items like wild mushrooms, pork carnitas and a double cheeseburger. Wood is a popular spot for brunch as well. Their outdoor patio makes Wood a great go-to spot for summer dining in Lakeview.

The brainchild of Greg Shuff and the Dryhop Brewers team (see below), Corridor is a great spot for a summer meal or a few drinks outdoors on a nice, summer day. Corridor features a selection of beers brewed on-site. They also have extension all-day food and brunch menus.

A favorite Lakeview spot for Green Bay Packers fans, Will’s has a large beer garden that can be enjoyed by all. A large food and drink menu makes Will’s a great choice for a casual summer afternoon or evening. The menu includes nods to Wisconsin, including cheese curds and the “Badger Burger”.

This Italian restaurant has earned its popularity by serving excellent, authentic Italian food. Although their outdoor seating is a bit limited, it’s worth waiting a few minutes if need be. You’ll be able to enjoy the summer weather and one of the best Italian meals in Chicago at the same time. That’s hard to beat.

A popular Lakeview brunch spot, Southport Grocery and Cafe’s menu offers everything from a breakfast salad to cupcake pancakes. The casual restaurant has a great front porch where you can soak in some sun while enjoying your brunch.
The “Grocery” side includes some great take-home foods and unique gifts.

If you’re looking to enjoy a drink with friends in a casual outdoor spot, Sheffield’s is a great option. Their outdoor garden is fairly large and includes a stage where musicians perform from time to time. With a great selection of beer and wine, you’re bound to enjoy a warm Lakeview day at Sheffield’s. They also do weekend brunch.

A brewery and restaurant, Dryhop Brewers opened in 2013. Their food, drinks and atmosphere are all excellent. The front of the restaurant has two garage doors, which they open when it’s nice out. The result is a great open air environment, perfect for enjoying your meal and a Lakeview-brewed drink to accommodate it.
