It’s a proud moment for us, here at Wirtz Realty Corporation, as Rocky Wirtz will be honored this evening at the Four Seasons Hotel in Landmarks Illinois‘ 10th annual celebration honoring “Legendary Landmarks.”
The Wirtzes have been in the real estate business since the 1920s, growing today to more than 20 residential buildings in Chicago and Evanston, with the main office in Streeterville at 680 N Lake Shore Drive. However, here at Wirtz Realty, we also take great pride in our commercial properties; highlighted by the Art Deco retail and office building sitting at 333 N Michigan Ave in the loop. This 35-story skyscraper has just undergone a $50 million renovation, which included the relocation of the Chicago Blackhawks team store from a quaint little sidewalk-level storefront, to an expanded second-floor mega-store overlooking the Chicago River and down Michigan Ave.
The majority of the Lakeview Chicago residential portfolio is anchored by buildings packed with vintage charm, so, it should come as no surprise that, while 333’s renovation has provided the building with modern touches, it hasn’t lost its early 1900’s charm or character, and ultimately, it was the reason that Landmarks Illinois has chosen to honor Rocky Wirtz at this year’s Legendary Landmarks celebration.
