If you live in or near Wrigley Field, you’re likely aware of the construction in the area. Wrigley Field itself has ongoing construction projects. Across the street from Wrigley Field, a large new development is in the works. Below is some information about construction at Wrigley Field and in the surrounding area.
Construction is scheduled to begin this week on a large new development across from Wrigley Field where a McDonalds once was. Entitled Addison & Clark, the new development includes over 100 apartments, 400+ parking spaces, and nearly 150,000 square feet of commercial space.
Wrigley Field has already undergone some major construction projects. Their new clubhouse is 30,000 square feet and the second largest in the MLB behind the new New York Yankees clubhouse. Other recent upgrades to Wrigley Field include new bathroom facilities and eco-friendly features. Wrigley Field is now run completely off of solar energy.
Work is currently underway for other renovations at Wrigley Field, including a large outdoor plaza. All construction work at Wrigley Field’s exterior is completed under the guidelines of the Chicago Commission on Landmarks.
The new American Airlines 1914 Club at Wrigley Field is scheduled to open for the 2018 season underneath the club box seats between the dugouts. The 1914 Club is planned to offer a VIP experience complete with first-class amenities, seats with prime views, and a full bar with premium cocktails.
